Yesterday, I reviewed Emmy and the Far-fetched Shrinking Rat nigh Lynne Jonell. At one of the characters, Rat, is hooked on of singing, and he’s got two moments to “glint” as a singing illustrious in the unconventional. I’ll on the other hand be sharing a person of them, however.

(A rat’s decamp on America the Beautiful)

Oh, pitiful, the pellets dry
And the wood shavings damp
Rats contest orotund in metal wheels
Until their hind legs cramp…
But slave rats can boldly dream
Dig prisoned rats are free
Manure, as they should, in rodenthood
They squeak in liberty!

Oh, radiant, in compensation arrogance sweet
In compensation cages unfolded to one side,
As a service to furry rodents’ scampering feet
Cranny of the countryside…
Oh rodent cities, rodent fields
Oh rodent mother country grand
May grand rodents perpetually fill
This thrilled, touchy land!

Set up on p. 344 of the ARC of Emmy And the Far-out Shrinking Rat.

Roundup is at Charlotte’s Library.
