Brian Marchant graduated suma cum laude from UW-Green Bay
in 1990, with a B.A. in Spanish/ESL. He and his wife, Heather,
published their first book, A Boy Named Chong, in 1991.
He earned his Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction
in 1995 from Lesley College. Brian was the recipient of
a Senator Herb Kohl Fellowship for excellence and innovation
in education in 1998 . Mr. M. currently teaches ESL for
the Green Bay Public Schools. He has lived abroad and traveled
extensively with his wife, Heather, until they started a
family. Some of the countries they have visited include
Spain, China and Thailand.
Heather Marchant graduated in 1985 with a B.A. in Spanish
from Berea College in Berea, KY and earned her teaching
certificate from UW-Green Bay. Heather and Brian met in
Spain and were married in 1986. She taught for several years
before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She loves reading and
enjoys helping her husband, Brian, write and edit books
for children. In addition to being president of their company,
Brown-eyed Books, Heather also oversees the production,
harvest and sale of flowers and raspberries on their 12
acre farm in Greenleaf, Wisconsin. She and Brian have four
children ages 12, 9, 4 and 2 whom she homeschools. Their
children are a constant source of inspiration for their
writing.
